In 1885, Alfred Richard and his brother worked for Hyde. Massachusetts natives, they came to Canada to explore new markets and establish business in Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu in 1890, bringing with them the Hyde know-how. In 1942, the Gregoire and Panfili families bought the Richard Tool company continuing the tradition of family owned enterprise. In 1997 the Richard company was bought by the third generation of the Panfili and Gregoire families. With a new strategic plan focusing on category management and new product development, A. Richard has been able to double its sales in 6 years, based on its reputation for high-quality tools and reliable customer service.

At the end of 2003, owning more than 85% of the Canadian market in Surface Preparation Hand Tool, Richard joined the Hyde Group of companies, returning the know-how back to its roots. Today, our company employs more than 150 dedicated people and manufactures over 1 200 different products sold in 14 countries around the world. A.Richard G.P. is one of the largest manufacturers of hand tools in the world, producing 12 million tools every year, 3.5 million of which are putty knives, wall scrapers and taping knives specific to the needs of tradesmen.
